The School is fortunate to have two large, secure, all-purpose playgrounds that boys from Reception to Year 8 use for imaginative play, football, nets practice and team tournaments of various kinds.

The School also uses the Battersea Park and Vincent Square playing fields, and the Queen Mother Sports Centre in Pimlico for games.
Boys in Reception enjoy games (or PD/Physical Development) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, mainly on the AstroTurf at our Ambrosden Avenue site.

The main sports are:
Michaelmas Term
Lent Term
Trinity Term

In addition to this, all boys take part in swimming, tennis, cross-country, judo, handball, athletics and fencing. The latter is especially popular within the School, and we have a strong link with Salle Boston Fencing Club in Westminster.

Games are played twice a week at a range of venues, including Battersea Park and on the School’s large, secure, all-purpose playground beside Westminster Cathedral. There is also regular access to a 25m swimming pool, where inter-house and School swimming galas take place.

There is a busy fixture list, involving every boy in the school, and a typical term will mean over sixty matches for the boys, as well as inter-house competitions. Qualified coaches are employed every term for different sports and these specialists work alongside members of the teaching staff.

Games at WCCS are open to every boy and good sportsmanship is nurtured.
