BECOME A CHORISTER!

WE’RE LOOKING FOR ROBUST, MUSICAL AND TALENTED BOYS

• Is your son a fun-loving, robust, self-starting, musical and talented Roman Catholic boy?
• Is he coming up to his seventh or eight birthday?
• Are you a generous family, with a great sense of humour, a love of beautiful music, seeking extraordinary opportunities for your son(s)?
• Are you prepared for the commitment to boarding chorister life, with the wonderful sense of teamwork, discipline and achievement it brings?
• Then consider the life of a chorister at one of the world’s most famous Cathedral choirs!

SINGING ACROSS THE GLOBE

Under the inspirational leadership of Martin Baker, Westminster Cathedral’s Master of Music, the choir’s distinctive sound and repertoire means it’s in demand all over the world, from Norway to New Zealand, from Australia to the USA.

SINGING IN CENTRAL LONDON SIX DAYS A WEEK

You can hear our fantastic choir every day, except Wednesdays, during term time, in Westminster Cathedral.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (Mass) 5.30 pm
Saturday (Mass) 10.30 am
Sunday (Mass) 10.30 am (Solemn Vespers and Benediction) 3.30 pm

AN EDUCATION AT ONE OF LONDON’S TOP PREPARATORY SCHOOLS

Choristers at Westminster Cathedral Choir School receive a first-class academic education from eight to thirteen (Years 4 to 8), at one of London’s top boys’ preparatory schools, at a greatly reduced cost.

PROGRESSION TO BRITAIN’S LEADING PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Almost all our choristers go on to achieve major music scholarships at Britain’s leading public schools.

ADMISSIONS AT 8+
Boys normally join in Year 4, aged 8 years, and are known as ‘probs’, or probationers, for their first year. Admission follows informal and formal voice trials with the Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral and academic and pastoral assessments by the Head Master. The School offers about six probationer places each year, so entry is highly competitive. Please contact the Head Master’s secretary for details, in the first instance.

Tel 020 7931 6099 Email office@choirschool.com

Due to the particular nature of the duties attached to Choristership at Westminster Cathedral, and in accordance with the School's designated status, all Probationers and Choristers must be baptised and practising Roman Catholics.

FEES
Fees, payable termly and in advance, for the academic year 2009/10 are:

£2,375 (per term)
Boys who have been offered a chorister place, but need additional financial support to take up their place at the School, should contact Mrs Lesley Vigurs in the School office.

You can download a pdf on chorister opportunities at Westminster Cathedral by clicking here.

To apply for an informal voice trial with the Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral, Mr Martin Baker, please contact Mrs Madeline Wilson in the School office.
